Dell repairs Perth FAQs

Answers to the questions we hear most often about our laptop repair service in Perth. Have something else? Call us on 08 9325 1196 and a real technician will pick up.

How fast are Dell repairs at your Perth workshop?

Your Dell goes on the bench within 2–3 hours of arriving, and most common repairs — screens, batteries, keyboards, SSDs — are completed same day to 24 hours. Model-specific parts we don't stock, like a particular XPS OLED panel, generally arrive within 2–3 business days and are fitted the day they land.

What will my Dell repair cost?

The $85 inspection is our minimum labour charge and covers a genuine diagnosis plus a written quote — nothing proceeds until you approve it. As a guide: virus removal starts at $119, board-level repair at $175, liquid damage treatment at $199, keyboards at $209, thermal service at $219, batteries at $249 and screens at $379. Data recovery is quoted after the drive is assessed.

I found my Service Tag — does that help?

Enormously. The 7-character Service Tag on the base of every Dell identifies your exact configuration, which means we can order the precisely matching panel, battery or keyboard the first time. Include it in your quote request and the whole job moves faster. Can't find it? It's also in the BIOS (F2 at startup) and in Dell's SupportAssist app.

Which Dell ranges do you repair?

All of them: XPS, Inspiron, Latitude, Precision workstations, Vostro, Alienware and G-series gaming machines, plus older discontinued lines. Parts are matched against your Service Tag rather than guessed from the model name — with Dell's many internal variants per model, that matters.

Will an independent repair void my Dell warranty?

Your rights under Australian Consumer Law survive an independent repair. If your machine still has active Dell warranty or ProSupport coverage for the fault in question, we'll tell you at inspection — using it is usually your best move, and we'd rather say so than take the job. Most Dells we see are outside coverage, where the question is moot.

My Dell's power light just blinks and nothing happens. Dead?

Probably not — that blinking is a diagnostic code. Dell machines flash amber and white in patterns that identify the failing subsystem (board, RAM, display and so on). Count the pattern if you can and mention it when you book; either way, we read the code on the bench and go straight to the fault instead of guessing.

Do you fix Alienware and G-series gaming laptops?

Yes — high-performance thermal rebuilds, GPU faults, hinge repairs and high-refresh panel replacements on Alienware and G-series machines are regular bench work. If yours throttles under load or the fans never settle, it's almost always a repairable cooling issue.

What does a Dell screen replacement cost?

From $379 fitted. The exact figure depends on the panel your machine shipped with — a standard Inspiron FHD panel costs less than an XPS 4K touch or InfinityEdge assembly. We confirm the exact panel against your Service Tag and quote it in writing before ordering.

The hinges on my Inspiron are cracking the case. Fixable?

Yes, and don't wait — hinge-post failure is a known weak point on several Inspiron generations. The screw posts that anchor the hinge crack away from the plastic case, and every open-close cycle makes it worse until the screen assembly separates. Caught early it's an affordable repair; caught late it can take the lid and LCD cable with it.

Can you recover files from a dead Dell?

Usually. If the laptop died but the drive didn't, we pull your data directly — a dead board or smashed screen doesn't touch the storage. Failing drives, clicking drives and encrypted SSDs (including BitLocker) go through our recovery lab and are quoted after assessment.

Do you handle Latitude and Precision fleets for businesses?

Yes — business machines are half our bench. We work around BitLocker and domain constraints, preserve data by default, offer batched repairs to keep your downtime staggered, and provide itemised invoices per asset. For recurring fleet work, ask about standing arrangements.

Are your repairs guaranteed?

Every repair carries a written workmanship warranty, and fitted parts carry their own manufacturer warranties on top. It's all itemised on your invoice, so if anything's not right, resolving it is straightforward.

Where do I bring my Dell — and can I post it?

We're in Perth and cover the whole metro area. Drop in during business hours, or post from anywhere in WA — pack it well, note your contact details and Service Tag, and let us know it's coming. Start with the quote form or call 08 9325 1196.

Is my old Inspiron worth repairing?

Often yes — a battery, an SSD or a thermal service revives most ageing Inspirons for far less than replacement. We'll give you the honest arithmetic after inspection, and if replacement genuinely makes more sense, we'll say exactly that.
